I am certainly familiar with the practice of homosexuality in
English public schools *amongst the students.* That
masturbation was ever taught *by the teachers* is quite another
matter.  If you have ever seen evidence of such a thing, do
tell.

PS-- "Fag" is a term for a younger boy who is made to serve an
older one in all manner of ways.  "All fagged out" is an
expression that relates to this idea of having to work hard.
So the original meaning was a servant, from which the sexual
connotation came.
