Bee and others:
I guess my on-line dictionary isn't as good as I thought. The dictionary I
found in my Chicago alley gave this definition.
lemniscate - (noun) [NL lemniscata, fr. fem. of L lemniscatus "with hanging
ribbons", fr. leniscus]: a figure-eight shaped curve whose equation in polar
coordinates is p squared= a squared cos 2(theta)
