Alex,
There is nothing to prevent a novelist from writing accurage history.  Thomas
Costain did it with his series of books on the Plantagenets.  Arrian,
incidentally, agrees with Mary Renault and he was no novelist.
I can see why you are getting tired of this list.  After you do all your
postings, do you have any time left to paint?
