It has a lot to do with the fact that all the intelligent Europeans came over
here and what is left now is the dregs of the genetic material after they
managed to kill off all their good stock in two world wars leaving the rest to
breed with their first cousins.  But hell, if you lived in a molding museum
with people whose best days are material for history books you'd be jealous
too.

Europe is a nice tourist attraction but nothing that comes out of it now is to
be taken seriously.
