You about summed it up right.  He certainly practiced sex-magic.  It's a
matter of debate whther he did it for the sex first or the magic first.
He was also, in many people's opinion, a great literary practical joker.
My own view on his writings is that his ~Book of Thoth~ (on the tarot)
was his best work.
